Active IQ Level 3 Award in Learning and Training

The aim of the Active IQ Level 3 Award in Education and Training qualification is to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills to be able to educate and train individuals and/or groups. This qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills to enter into the education sector.

Entry Requirement

Learners must be 19 + and do not need to be in a teaching role however learners do need to be competent in the area in which they wish to teach.

Course Content

To achieve the Active IQ Level 3 Award in Education and Training, learners must complete the one mandatory unit (3 credits) and an additional 9 credits from the optional units (6 credits from Group B and 3 credits from Group C).

Unit 1. Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training-H/505/0053 (3 credits)

Optional Units (Group B)

Unit 2. Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training-D/505/0052 (6 credits)

Unit 3. Facilitate Learning and Development for Individuals (6 credits) J/502/9549

Unit 4. Facilitate Learning and Development in Groups (6 credits) F/502/9548

Optional Units (Group C)

Unit 5. Understanding Assessment in Education and Training (3 credits) R/505/0050

Unit 6. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 credits) D/601/5313

Qualification Overview

The aims and objectives of the Active IQ Level 3 Award in Education and Training are to:

• Provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to educate and train individuals and/or groups.
• Provide learners with the knowledge and skills to enter the education sector.
• Provide learners with the knowledge to be able to understand the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training.
• Provide learners with the knowledge to be able to deliver education and training to individuals and/or groups in an environment/subject, in which they are technically competent. Provide learners with the knowledge to be able to understand and support the process of assessment.

Progression

This qualification provides progression on to:

Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training.

Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. Please note completion of the Level 3 Award in Education and Training is not a requirement/ pre-requisite for access onto these higher qualifications.

Active IQ Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement

This qualification is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements. However, learners must be 19+ and have occupational and technical competence in the area(s) that they wish to assess.

Qualification Structure

Successful achievement of both units (9 credits) must be achieved for the full qualification.

This qualification is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment).

This qualification comprises of 2 mandatory units:

Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment- D/601/5313

Unit 2 – Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding- F/601/5319

Successful achievement of both units must be achieved for the full qualification.

Aims/Objectives

The objective of this qualification is to assess the candidate assessor’s knowledge and
understanding of the principles and practices that underpin assessment.

Progression

This qualification provides progression to the following additional assessing qualifications: 

  • Active IQ Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment
  • Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

Alternatively, it provides progression to Level 4 qualifications in internal quality assurance for learners who wish to further their knowledge and skills and become internal or lead internal verifiers.
