The aim of this Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork is to train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to design, plan and deliver safe and effective Pilates classes within a gym or health club environment as a Level 3 Pilates Instructor.

Entry Requirements

Some experience of pilates classes is highly recommended. The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.

This qualification comprises of 7 mandatory and 1 additional units;

Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Health A/600/9051

Unit 2: Know How to Support Clients who Take Part in Exercise and Physical Activity M/600/9015

Unit 3: Health, Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment T/600/9016

Unit 4: Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health A/600/9017

Unit 5: Principles of Pilates Matwork D/602/5324

Unit 6: Programming Pilates Matwork H/602/5325

Unit 7: Instructing Pilates Matwork K/602/5326

Unit 8: Applying the Principles of Nutrition to a Physical Activity Programme L/600/9054

Progression Routes

This qualification provides progression to Level 3 qualifications such as Personal Training, Exercise Referral and Sports Massage Therapy or to broaden Level 2 skills with instructing Circuits, Gym, Exercise to Music, Step and Aqua.
